Radio KSON 103.7

Sophie @ 103.7, also known as KSCF, is a hot AC radio station in San Diego owned and operated by CBS Radio. The station's tagline is "Now. New. Next." and it broadcasts in HD Radio. The HD2 signal simulcasts sister station KROQ in Los Angeles, while the HD3 signal is dedicated to the House of Sophie.

The station has undergone several format changes throughout its history. In the late 1970s, it was known as Kozn-FM and played a beautiful music format. On May 20, 1979, the call letters changed to KJQY and it became "K-Joy," an adult contemporary station. In 1995, it rebranded as "Rock Mix 103.7" KMKX, featuring classic rock music. On July 5, 1996, it changed its call letters to KPLN and adopted the name "The Planet" while maintaining a classic rock format.

During this time, notable personalities such as Cindy Pace, Jim McInnes, Tony Martin, and Mike Dawson were associated with the station. However, the format changed again on October 25, 2005, when it transitioned to an FM talk format called "Free FM," with the call letters changing to KSCF on October 28.

In December 2005, Howard Stern left terrestrial radio and moved to Sirius Satellite Radio. Adam Carolla took over as the morning show host on KSCF on January 3, 2006, replacing Stern. The Phil Hendrie Show was replaced by the Dick and Skibba Show on March 1, 2006, but they were fired on February 14, 2007, for being "too cerebral" for the San Diego audience.

On March 5, 2007, the Generation Y University Show took over the time slot, but it only lasted until April 25, 2007, when it was replaced by a show called Generic Radio. Eventually, on June 22, 2007, KSCF temporarily flipped to an oldies format known as "K-Surf 103.7," but this turned out to be a stunt. At 5pm that day, it revealed its true format as Sophie @ 103.7, a modern AC station, with the first two songs being "Upside Down" by Jack Johnson and "Thnks fr th Mmrs" by Fall Out Boy. [*]
