In 1971, after experiencing increasing interference on 88.9 MHz, the FCC approved the frequency change to 88.5 MHz where it continues to broadcast to this day. In 1984, transmitter power was increased to 130 watts.
The licensee failed to file for license renewal by October 1, 2004 and the station's license expired on February 1, 2005. The FCC approved a Special Temporary Authorization (STA) October 18, 2005 and the station resumed operation, ceasing again May 12, 2006 in anticipation of the end of the academic year. The FCC granted a second STA on September 22, 2006 and on January 31, 2007 approved the renewal of the KDIC license.
