The station mainly programs Alternative rock aimed at a college aged crowd, however the station does also play R&B in the form of rap in some shows aired on the station. It claims on its myspace page to be the "last totally student run college station in Louisiana"

The station was originally known as KVFG, a 10 watt station broadcasting on 91.5 FM which allowed only for on campus and surrounding neighborhood area coverage. In 1992, The station was granted a construction permit which they used to increase coverage to the surrounding regional area and was licensed in 1996 as a higher powered 250 watt ERP and 45 meters of tower height station from their campus.
