KYKX (105.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Country music format. Licensed to Longview, Texas, USA, the station serves the Longview-Marshall area. KYKX began life on March 3, 1963 as KLUE-FM by Radio Longview, Inc, owners of the now defunct KLUE 1280. It's initial power was 6.2 kW and it transmitted from a 300' tower. The format of KLUE-FM is unknown, however it is known that it was not a simulcast of KLUE 1280.
In 1967, KLUE-FM upgraded their power to 36 kW.
In 1969, the calls were changed to KHER.
In 1971, KHER upgraded their power to 100 kW.
On July 1, 1974, KHER was sold to Stereo 105 Inc., and calls were changed to KYKX. KYKX has maintained the country music format from 1974 or earlier to the present.
On November 1, 1985, KYKX was sold to Radio Sungroup of Texas, Inc.
On July 23, 1998, KYKX was sold to Sunburst Media
On October 18, 2000, KYKX was sold to Waller Media.
On January 7, 2005, KYKX was sold to it's current owner Access.1 Texas License Company LLC.
