Radio WEXT-FM (Exit 97.7)

WEXT (97.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an adult album alternative format. Licensed to Amsterdam, New York, USA, the station serves Albany, New York. The station is currently owned by WMHT Educational Telecommunications and features programing from American Public Media, National Public Radio and Public Radio International. WEXT began operations as WCSS-FM in 1975 airing a Top 40/Oldies format. By 1980, the call letters had changed to WMVQ, which now programmed an MOR format. In 1984, WMVQ changed formats to Soft Rock. In late 1988, the format was changed to Oldies, and the call letters to WKOL-FM, which was known as "Cool". That format lasted for about a year until it was flipped to Adult contemporary in late 1989. That lasted until late 1994, when the station flipped to Classical as WBKK on Christmas Day. That format lasted for over twelve years, until the flip to AAA on July 7, 2007, as WEXT.
