The WLOE studios and transmitter were originally located just outside of Leaksville, in the town of Spray, North Carolina, "...on the busy Boulevard..." as it was often referred to on the air. In the 1960s, FM service was added on 94.5 MHz, at the dial position now occupied by WGBT.[citation needed] Mike Moore joined the station as news director in 1972.
