WMAS-FM (94.7 FM) is an Adult Contemporary music formatted radio station licensed to Springfield, Massachusetts. The station plays adult contemporary hits from the 1970s through today. The station has programmed adult contemporary since late 1979. From 1978-1979, it programmed Disco music, and prior to that time, it was also adult contemporary. From 1971-1973, the station programmed Progressive Rock, as WHVY. While focusing on the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts in its marketing and imaging, the station is easily heard and has listenership in northern Connecticut as well. The station is owned by the Citadel Broadcasting Company, and its slogan is "94.7 FM WMAS." Its sister station is WHLL 1450, also licensed to Springfield (and which formerly shared the WMAS callsign with WMAS-FM). Dave James, a former WMAS DJ, is currently a program host on the QVC home shopping channel on cable television.
